Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward following a road traffic collision near Wimborne – with one man being arrested for allegedly failing to stop.
At around 10.50pm on Saturday 29 August 2015, a serious injury collision occurred on Julians Road between a car and a pedal bike.
The victim, a man in his 50s, was cycling away from Wimborne toward the Corfe Mullen roundabout when he was struck from behind by a vehicle and knocked to the ground.
It was reported that the vehicle, thought to be a dark-coloured Volkswagen Polo from debris found at the scene, did not stop after the collision.
The victim sustained serious injuries including eight broken ribs, a fracture to his back, a broken ankle and is currently in Intensive Care at Poole Hospital.
Police Constable Dave Cotterill, of Dorset Police’s Traffic Unit, said, “This is a very serious incident and I am appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision, or who was in the area and saw a dark coloured Polo at the relevant time, to contact me on 101.”
A 28-year-old local man has been arrested in relation to this incident and released on police bail, pending further enquiries, until the beginning of October 2015.
