Stewarts Garden Centre customers from Broomhill have been thanked for a £4,750 donation towards care at Lewis-Manning Hospice.
Jason Carter, general manager of the Stewarts Garden Centre at Broomhill near Wimborne, presented a cheque on behalf of the thousands of customers who donated towards last year’s appeal on behalf of Poole-based Lewis-Manning Hospice. The £4,750.20 total was raised during events and activities organised at the busy centre.
David James, fundraising manager at Lewis-Manning Hospice said that the donations would contribute towards the day-to-day running of their recently launched End of Life Care service in 12 dedicated bedrooms.
“Very recently we started to take care of patients in our newly opened End of Life Care service. This means that instead of a local hospital, patients will be able to pass away in the warm and comforting environment of the Hospice, surrounded by their families and loved ones. Each year we need to raise over £2 million and we would not be able to do it without the support of companies like Stewarts Garden Centre and their customers,” said David James. “It has been fantastic to work with Stewarts over the last year, who like us at the Hospice, are at the heart of the local community.”
In addition to fundraising, Stewarts plants’ team has helped the hospice by donating plants and expertise to enhance the garden areas and landscaping.
David James added that anyone who can support Lewis-Manning Hospice by either fundraising or providing a service that can save money to fund the annual £2m required to provide the facility, would be gratefully welcomed and there is always a need for voluntary help and support.
