Luke Matthews, Executive Head Chef at Chewton Glen, New Milton, has been appointed a Paul Harris Fellow by Wimborne Rotary in recognition of his high professional and personal standards and his active involvement through Rotary in helping others.
The presentation was made by the club’s President Derek Radley at a special lunch at Chewton Glen on 13 September, attended by members of Wimborne Rotary and their partners. He said, “Over recent years Luke has donated a great deal of his personal time as head judge in Rotary Young Chef competitions at local, district and regional levels. His expert professional advice, patience and keen encouragement has been an invaluable incentive to our young aspiring chefs”.
One of Rotary’s most prestigious honours, Paul Harris fellowships are awarded in memory of the Chicago lawyer Paul Harris, founder of the Rotary movement in 1905. Past recipients include such notables as Nelson Mandela, Prince Charles and Pope John Paul II.
