Wimborne in Bloom duck race nets over £1,500

The 15th Wimborne in Bloom August Bank Holiday weekend Duck Race raised over £1,500 towards ‘In Bloom’ funds and the autumn planting.
The Deputy Mayor and Mayoress Councillor Shane and Mrs Tracy Bartlett along with members of the Wimborne in Bloom Committee launched the ducks into the river Allen by the Riverside Mews Café Bridge on Saturday 23 August.

Purbeck Folk Festival success

Purbeck Folk Festival held the rain at bay until the final sets of Sunday night as organisers reported the most successful event in its six-year history.
Despite late afternoon warnings of impending rain and advice to move heavy vehicles to higher ground, the weather held on Sunday night as closing headliners Turin Brakes brought the curtain down on the best attended and most diverse line up in the Festival’s history.

Wimborne Town FC claim bragging rights

Wimborne Town shook off the disappointment of Saturday’s last ditch 2-1 defeat at Cinderford to claim bragging rights with a 3-1 victory in the Bank Holiday Monday local derby at Bashley.
